Love our Oceans

This collection was made in 2020 - inspired by the ocean and how we take its beauty for granted. We as humans unconsciously damage Mother Earth and would just realise the impact later on when it's already reached the news. Growing up in the largets archipelago in the world, I was always surrounded by beautiful beaches, yet as I get older, more and more trash, specifically plastic waste are floating at sea and washed up at shore. Bali often do beach cleanups every couple months or so; though it keeps are beaches clean, a high percentage of the plastic waste cannot be recycled or upcycled do to its poor condition. I was still living in Jakarta when I made the collection, so the plastic waste was from Jakarta as well. But before reaching the ocean, or any body of water, these trash were in the landfil - someone somewhere is still polluting our rivers and oceans as they still think that the trash will just "magically disappear." I'm upcycling these plastic bottle caps to "have a better life" by turning them to beautiful wearable jewelry.
